Latest styling work | Birthday girl | Bikram Yoga

I’m really pleased to say that our SS/2013 catalogue is almost finished. The files are going to the printer  on Tuesday evening and if you have requested a copy or receive the previous issues in the past, our gorgeous catalogue will land on your doorstep on 19/04/2014. To be honest, I think this is our best catalogue EVER!  I don’t say this lightly because when it comes to BODIE and FOU, I’m a perfectionist but out of all the catalogues we’ve produced including our first one which received an ECMOD Award, this is my favourite! There isn’t a spread (double-page) I don’t like and I’m hugely proud of what our team has achieved with that baby! The photos above are from the //NATURALS collection I styled and photographed with  Francois. I don’t know if you remember but after losing my two beloved grand-mothers in a very short time at the end of last year, this year, the only thing I wanted was for life in general to be more gentle and kind to everyone and I really …

Mila’s bedroom | Get the look

I’m often asked what colour I used in Mila’s bedroom and now that the handmade Pigmée collection is back in stock, I thought I would share again these details as some of you may have missed my previous posts.{GET THE LOOK}– I painted only one wall in Down Pipe by Farrow & Ball and painted the other three bright white to keep the room light.– It took me ages to find a contemporary, affordable bed for Mila and in the end, I got hers from Ikea but since then, I discovered COSATTO.– The light grey linen duvet cover is from here and exists in double size too.– I also used the lovely Pigmée garland to soften the look of the wall. – The “You are Loved” sticker used to be on BODIE and FOU but is now sold out. However, if you wish to achieve a similar look with any of these wall stickers and add one of your family photo. Voila! If you have any questions, just leave a comment…well even if you don’t have any question ;-) ————————————————————————————————————————————————// (C) Photography: Francois Kong | Styling: Karine …

4 styles to create an inviting, family-friendly dining room

Our friends Elena and Graham moved into a new home which needs some work but has massive potential and just seeing it, made Steve and I craving for a new home decorating project. They have already painted the walls of their dining room in white and will sand the original floorboards to varnish them.As they are planning to get new dining chairs, here are a few examples to create an inviting, family-friendly and welcoming dining room. Personally I love them all which won’t make the decision process any easier but hey…Which one do you prefer? // Scandi warmthAs they already own a white Arne Jacobsen table, wooden dining chairs like these below would look beautiful in their room that is filled with natural light and will soften the room, adding textures and a natural vibe. // On a budgetI love finding styling ideas on a budget because it requires creativity, ingenuity and I’m a firm believer that style is not about money. If I had a TV show, I would love to help people to create beautiful homes on …

BODIE and FOU offices + Interview in CURIO magazine

“It’s better to be a pirate than join the navy” Steve Jobs The new issue of CURIO magazine is now out and I’m very excited to have the new BODIE and FOU Showroom/offices featured in it.  CURIO magazine is a wonderful magazine launched by the lovely Tara Germain and full of interesting articles and I’m hoping you will enjoy reading mine where I talked about the beginnings of BODIE and FOU and found some inspiration to follow your dreams and create the company of your dreams.Francois was commissioned to shoot two features for this issue, of course the BODIE and FOU one but also the studio of Fiona Leahy who looks amazing! —————————————————————————————————————————————————–// Photography: Francois Kong for Curio magazine http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/UxVs

Have an inspiring, relaxing weekend

I had such a busy (but good) week that I think I’m gonna stay offline for most of the weekend to recover except the odd Instagram update .We’ve almost finished shooting our SS/2013 collection and are starting the design of our Spring summer catalogue on Monday. If you want a copy of our catalogue and you live in the UK, make sure you request a copy here . If you live abroad go here.I would also like to welcome my two new & beautiful sponsors: La Cerise sur le gateau and Lab.which I will introduce better in the next few days…. I have to confess…I started Bikram yoga a couple of weeks ago and since then, I’m feeling more inclined to look after myself and have time away from the computer. I’ve done 3 classes each week and I can’t believe how much of a positive impact it has already on my complexion (and may I say lines around the eyes), my figure, sleep and mood (according to Steve). It’s probably down to the 2 Lt of water …

4 Benefits to Adding More Natural Light to your Home

This winter is SOOOO long here in the UK. I’m day-dreaming of the Summer sun on my skin, looking tanned, healthy, happy…anyone else feeling the same? I read this article on the BBC the other day that highlighted how being exposed to sunlight daily is good for our health, both mentally and physically. I often think that adding natural light to your home is a key design concept that many people overlook. Light can be the difference between making a room look airy and elegant over one that looks unwelcoming and even dingy.  In our kitchen, half of the ceiling has been replaced by roof lights and I can’t tell you how much of a positive difference it makes to this room where we spend a lot of time as a family. While I wouldn’t even consider having a bedroom or living room that didn’t let in as much sunlight as possible, I find that natural light adds a dimension to the design of your home that cannot be created with artificial lighting alone. So, as I’m on a “healthier home/healthier mind/healthier body …

In the shop this week: the Swing-arm wall light

Brace yourself…tomorrow we’ll be receiving the new Swing-arm wall light and I can’t wait to get my hands on it.Personally I love its simple, industrial design and raw finish. You may not agree with me but the design reminds me of a shorter version of Jean Prouvé’s Potence light – minus the price tag. I think the potence light retails at around £925 whereas this one is £200 soWith its simple design, clean lines and raw finish, the Swing-arm wall light is the perfect finishing touch to create an inspiring, chic industrial look in the bedroom, the lounge or the kitchen and I think this is one light that will be perfect for commercial projects.Pssst..Don’t forget to enter the Vipp competition here// Styling: Pella Hedeby | Industrial chic board | Get the light from here http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/UxVs
