Summer campaign Styling for DFS. How to get the costal vibes. Read on www.karinecandicekong.com

My styling for DFS Sofas

Last month, I flew to London to style the Summer campaign for DFS which took place in a magical place in Seasalter, Kent. As the photos have been featured in the press, I’m now allowed to share them with you here. The brief from DFS was to achieve a costal look around this beautiful sofa which is part of the French Connection collection (the coffee table too is from DFS, stunning isn’t it!?). I wanted to stay away from the costal shabby chic look we often see in magazines so my inspiration for the photoshoot was the beach houses that line the coast of Cape Town in South Africa. The location was just perfect for this! To achieve the look, I introduced textures using this striking Z1 pendant light with a black sisal shade as a centre piece to complement the blue of the sofa and this pretty basket  and added soft furnishings with patterns using handmade indigo throws and cushions.

10 healthy habits to nurture on holidays

What type of person are you on holidays? Do you implement healthy habits? Do you tend to indulge or use the time off to reset your mind and body? In the recent years I have been the latter, using holidays to either go back on track if I had massively fallen off the health wagon or just trying new things like a 5-detox, having a daily green smoothie, eating raw salads, making small healthy changes and building healthy habits.

Elodie’s boyfriend jeans

I’m spending a bit of quality time with my sister Elodie and the girls which is always great so I thought I would do a post on her sense of style because I’m a big fan. I love her look here and how she wears her boyfriend jeans…laid-back but very feminine and stylish.

5 THINGS I WANT RIGHT NOW!

We had a few drinks last night at La Co(o)rniche (mentioned here) which was really cool and then two minutes later, we got this! Massive rainfall but it was good fun because it wasn’t cold at all just very wet so everyone carried on drinking and eating while admiring the Bay of Arcachon. Slowly but surely, I’m mentally preparing myself to a cooler season hoping that the weather in Cap-Breton where we will be based for the next weeks will enable us to enjoy a bit more sunshine.

Using dark hues in the bedroom

I keep being asked what shade of paint I used on the wall of our bedroom in France. I used Down Pipe by Farrow & Ball which is a deep dark grey. I initially used the estate emulsion which has a lovely chalky finish but it shows marks a lot more. So over the past few years, I’ve freshened up our walls with the modern emulsion which has a low sheen and most importantly is waterproof.
