Having fitted lots of large windows in our home in London during the renovations, I’m loving the look of this house in Hackney, Architect Laura Dewe Mathew designed for herself. The kitchen units below are fitted with Dinesen wood which is far from being as affordable as plywood but I wanted to include it as I think it’s a beautiful example and ultimately the same look could be achieved with plywood to a certain extend. The walls, though, are covered with planks of MDF.

This kitchen designed by Rob Kennon Architects, is one of my favourites for its use of wood and concrete. Any room with the Vitra Eames DSW chair gets my vote but I really love this kitchen and the whole flat actually.
The owner bought the space from developers who had gutted it and were about to start building walls but she stopped their construction plans and called in Katrien Van Doren and Jerzy Bakker of Antwerp’s Komaan.  She asked them to arrange the interior in the most efficient way while keeping a spacious feeling and being creative with a limited budget and they’ve done a great job!How to create a stunning kitchen with plywoodPlywood kitchen project #11:

  2. I love the idea of using plywood in kitchens. When I eventually buy my own house it will definitely be getting considered, especially as it’s such a cheap durable material. I also love the warmth the wood produces and how easy it is to customise. Now just to find a house I can afford.. :)

  9. Nice ideas as usual. Thanks for your input. I always find something which catches my eye and attention. I love the look of most of the projects and if I had to choose one now, it would be really difficult.
