10 minimalist kitchens with grey units

7 minimalist kitchens with grey units

Now that we’ve sold our holiday home in the Bay of Arcachon to my best friend (which is the cherry on the cake since I get to see more of her), we are starting to plan our #bodieandfourenovations to modernise our other home in France. One thing we are looking at revamping is our Ikea kitchen which I have to admit has not aged. Ten years on and the units are still looking very white and have not faded despite the huge amount of natural light filling the room. However, what has changed is our cooking habits (well mine mostly…). I started cooking which made me realise that there is actually not enough workspace to prepare the food when the two of us are in the kitchen + Steve finds it very antisocial to have his back turned to our guests when he is cooking. Added to the obvious lack of storage, there is quite a few things we could make right the second time around.

Today’s portrait session was in the new home of an Interior Designer. The house is not finished yet so we had to move a few boxes around to carve ourselves a little corner for the photoshoot but it was good fun. I will share some pictures with you once it’s finished. Until then, you can view some on Instagram stories if you’re quick enough ;-) I loved the wooden ceiling, the concrete floor and this perfect little corner filled with natural light had two of my favourite chairs: the Panton chair by Vitra and the Eero Saarinen Tulip chair by Knoll. If you haven’t seen them yet, I have created a Facebook page for my Portrait Photography (click here to follow it) and a new Instagram account: Karine Kong Photography. If anyone is interested in doing a portrait session with me, I will be in London the first week of April so leave a comment or send me a message xoxo.
