Before the start of the Summer, I packed all my Autumn/Winter clothes into several suitcases and stored them in a cupboard. Last week, I started unpacking them to re-organise my wardrobe for the new season…

Having empty drawers to fill in, helped I think, as it felt like working with a blank canvas.
I wasn’t in the mood to clutter my cupboard again and therefore, it was easy to part from some items that I couldn’t see myself wearing again and others (regardless of the price, brand) that I wanted to keep.
Point in case, this sequin sweatshirt from H&M, grabbed in the sale at 2 euros,  is a keeper!

“70% staple pieces, 30% on-trend pieces is the ratio I’m aiming for, in my wardrobe this year”

Always aiming to be as minimalist as I can (and I have a long way to go…), this year I really want to streamline my wardrobe and have staple pieces with a few on-trend items to complete the look.

I want pieces that will last me for a few years because they truly reflect my style but also pieces that won’t bore me or make me feel stuck in a rut, if I wear them over the course of several years.

These Beckett sneakers from Isabel Marant for instance, have proven to be a great investment based on the cost per wear. So have these Dicker ankle boots whose heel height is so perfect that they actually make my calves looking slimmer.

“Try to teach this to the generation Z…not easy”

It’s also something I’m trying to instill in Mila, and it’s not always easy. She gets it, I mean she gets what I’m trying to achieve but I’m not sure she sees any value in it :-)
I remember we were all obsessed with brands when we were teens…With her generation, it’s just about the latest thing/look/craze and all the overconsumption that goes with it and that drives me nuts. I explained my views here.

So this week, I went for a 70%/30% ration with this all-black look…

My on-trend piece is this fab, new Marc Jacob tee-shirt (1) which is bound to become a staple piece, paired with a black blazer.
I picked this black patterned blazer (2) from Mango* because I’m a huge fan of the whole blazer + trousers (3) look and you can modernise it with a pair of Stan Smith or the NEW Golden Goose Deluxe Brand sneakers.

However, cheap fabrics tend to shine after a while which is not a great look so I suggest you go for the most expensive black blazer you can afford like maybe this crepe blazer from Theory or this Stella McCartney wool-twill blazer (my fav!)

There are a few over the shoulder bags this season that will make
great investment pieces.

I’ve already mentioned the NEW Fifi bag (only £99) from Hush …

This week, let me bring your attention to this NEW Albane leather shoulder bag (4) from A.P.C. (total love!).

I will finish the look with this nice pair of suede ankle boots from Mansur Gavriel.
