This Black on Black styling from my archives with the Bat print upside down and our NEW-YORK print. Once the summer is over, I will tackle the re-decoration of our blue house* (called blue by the girls because of its blue shutters) and add a fresh coat of paint to this bedroom**. Have a great Sunday! I’m waiting for my sis’ to wake up and then we will do yoga. PS*: House is available for rental during school holidays PS**: The Batgirl print featured on the wall is back in stock SHOP THE POST
One thing I was looking forward to doing once the renovations* were over, was to re-do my family B&W mood board. You may have seen the original one in Bolig magazine here, VT Wonen here, Elle Decoration here and Milk magazine here. If you are using masking tapes, it’s a very easy project to do and one that I find very uplifting and versatile. Ultimately I want to make a family mood board out of all the smiling family photos we have. I realised when I put this montage together how amazing it made me feel to look at Mila‘s infectious smile over and over but I haven’t got around to print them all so for now I’m using printed photos I had. It’s also a great, creative project if you rent a space and you don’t want to damage the walls.
On Saturday, I attended a photography workshop run by Emily Quinton and what a treat it was. I have meant to pick up my camera again for some times now but I was quite disappointed by the course I took last year at the London School of Photography and being too busy with the shop I put it off for another year.

This used to be a terrace on the second floor of our home, that nobody really used so we converted it into this… fab new room, which Steve designed. It has cedar cladding outside (like the whole back of our house now), a large window facing trees (neighbours are quite far out) and two auto-cleaning sky windows, slightly angled to catch the sun at different times of the day (see below). The floorboard is pine wood painted white. If you are interested, you can view the whole renovations album on Facebook here and I posted all the renovation updates on Instagram under hashtag #bodieandfourenovations. I was keen to keep the wall (photo 1) very rough to contrast against the clean, modern lines of the room and pristine white walls but my super perfectionist Painter tried to cover as much as he could to make it as white as possible and by the time I got home from work, the only ‘rough’ industrial area I could salvage, was the bottom part. It would have been nice to have the whole wall in its original state but …
I didn’t think I was…Last Saturday, Steve and I went to buy floorboards for our loft conversion and while I had an all-white scheme in my head for the top room, once in the shop, we ended up buying some large black floorboards similar to the ones featured in the first image of my 5 inspiring white kitchens post. Our decision to go for black floorboards this time, was dictated by two crazy things!Firstly: our deadline… We are aiming to complete the top room within two weeks so Mila can have 9 of her friends staying for a sleepover after celebrating her birthday (and these can be delivered within 5 days instead of the usual 4/5 weeks).Secondly: our common desire to try something differentWhich is a first too! Hahaha… I mean, the kiwi and I often want the same things in life but we usually spend a fair amount of time disagreeing about finishes, design, materials, budget, etc. but for some reasons, this time, we have been very much in sync.I’m not complaining! All I can say…there is hope …
