Latest styling job & some happy links for the weekend….

I almost ran over a charming guy this morning near Askew Road and I say ‘charming’ because he was quite good-looking, he was wearing something very similar to a Bellfield French worker jacket (very cool) and most importantly he gave me a big smile instead of yelling at me. I spent the rest of my short drive to work thinking “Wow…what a difference a smile can make in people’s lives”.As an individual, I’ve trained myself to be/think positive and be grateful for all the little things that happen to me. I don’t always score 100% and I get very grumpy on some occasions but over the years, I’ve improved and I can pick myself up from a bad situation to look on the bright side.Thinking about this charming man was who probably, very grateful I DID NOT run him over for good, I thought I shall endeavour to smile even when a situation/person does not deserve a smile. When sharing my morning adventure with the team, Doryan (do you remember him!?) told me he was doing the same (not very surprising …

My latest DIY project..

Always have a little DIY project in the kitchen, you never know what crazy hours of the night you will end up tackling it! I tackled mine at 2am (thx to Madame Insomnia) and ended up chatting with some nice people (thanks Instagram) I found the chair above in the street last year. I wasn’t too keen on the dark wood (which i sanded) and the blue fabric (see how it looked like when my home was featured in ELLE DECORATION) but the shape was perfect to achieve the style of Jacqueline Morabito (below). follow my Pinterest for more J. Morabito inspiration But then Lucas started sleeping on it…. Then Lucas started chewing the cushion… In the end, my lovely dog wrecked it completely (see picture on Instagram) so rather than re-upholster it, I decided to paint the fabric in white and use the chair as a prop. I had done this last Summer on a French armchair in my house in France (credit to my creative mum who suggested it) and the result was fab…very Maison …

THINK OUTSIDE THE BOX: COFFEE TABLE

When it comes to decorating, I think it’s very liberating to allow yourself to think outside the box.I used this pretty owl vase mostly as a pen holder and until recently this stool was the perfect side table to have by my sofa.My inspiration for the shot above was a coffee table made out of African stools spotted in an old Living Etc issue (circa 1998). Unfortunately I can not check the credits any longer as I threw away lots of magazines when we moved from Bristol back to London but I’m pretty sure it was a Dutch house. In all these years searching for similar stools, I only came across dark African stools or lighter ones that cost an arm until I used this wooden stool. What do you think? Would you mind sharing what ‘outside the box thinking’ you’ve done at home with your decoration?I’m also very excited that the God of Design aka Philippe Starck has chosen 20 of this stool to decorate his new MAMA SHELTER in Istambul. How cool is that!!?? I wish I …

I would love to get your feedback on our latest catalogue

Here is my latest baby…A small yet beautiful, inspiring catalogue, packed with styling & decorative ideas to show you how to create inspiring, welcoming and beautiful family homes (you can view it on issuu here). While it’s lot of hard work to put something like this together (and it costs an arm!), I thoroughly enjoy the creative process and it’s quite amazing after months of hard work for us to hold a print copy in our hands (no it doesn’t break my heart when you want to be taken off our list…#just a little #ItTotallyBreaksMyHeart #labouroflove #justkidding). We won an Award with our first catalogue but I’m specially proud of this one because this time, I was able to style everything so there isn’t a single spread I don’t like but I have my favourites…OK.. I’m in love with our NATURALS // moodboard on page 4 & 5, it’s a collection that I sourced when I went to Paris at the beginning of the year and that really inspired me.Unfortunately, one of these gorgeous chopping boards is already sold out …

Favourite B&W styling jobs | The Rock flag print

I’m very excited to tell you that we will receive very sOOOOn our new Rock Flag print and as I was looking at this page, I thought I would share with you the B&W images I enjoyed styling the most.Given that everything I select for our concept store are things that I would have at home, inevitably a few of these images turned out be just how I decorated our family home in London when I took the prints home rather than becoming a ‘styled shot’ but eventually I had to do a bit of work and some were specifically styled for our catalogue – Make sure you request a copy. The Batgirl print (top left corner) was styled chez Vosges Paris when I stayed with Dees to attend Meet the Blogger in Amsterdam last June (we had such a great time together and I’m very looking forward to having her in March for Meet the Bloggers in London) I also styled the Feathers print for our SS2012 catalogue at Desiree’s (top right corner – you can get the clip on light here and the owl vase here) (Bottom left …

{New Sponsor} BRUME Decorative window film for your home

I’m very happy to introduce my new sponsor BRUME because I’ve been using their products long before they became a sponsor so that’s one company I can definitively vouch for! When we moved into our new home, everything was looking a lot different…As you can see from these photos published in London Family Style by Edition PAUMES, the walls were magnolia and there were shelves on each side of the mantelpiece. What you can not see is that there was also some heavy, old eggshell curtains by the bay window. In order to modernize the whole room and bring more light in, I got all the walls painted in bright white and I took all the shelves down to let the room breathe (I then replaced the shelves by my B&W family mood board).I also took the curtains down, replaced the old, drafty windows by new, double-glazing ones and added a BRUME window sticker on the new windows. This allowed us to get more light in the room while maintaining our privacy.BRUME has a lot of great, modern designs but the …
