Tea party in our tree house | Our holiday home in France www.karinecandicekong.com

Tea party in our tree house

These are behind-the-scene shots I took when Côté Ouest magazine came to shoot our home last June, which I never shared with you. We moved a lot of things around in the house for the sake of the photoshoot to create new images but I’m especially fond of these photos in our tree house which was built by Steve and was a really work of love. Sadly Mila no longer fit in this fabulous denim jumpsuit which we got from Gap but you can probably find similar ones on Elias and Grace or Smallable. I’ll sell some of Mila’s clothes on Instagram soon.

3 ways to update a kitchen cupboard at very little cost

3 ways to create an inspiring cupboard for your kitchen

It has been raining for the past two days so while we are staying in our home in France, I have been keeping myself busy doing creative things like getting the girls to paint this log in white, taking new photos of the house and creating a blue moodboard on my kitchen cupboard to freshen up the look below. If you love a bit of DIY, here are three easy ways to create an inspiring and striking cupboard for your kitchen for very little cost… 1/ For a summery feel I sourced this cupboard from a second-hand shop and paid around 20 euros. I gave it a new lease of life by painting the outside white and the inside blue grey. To add a summery feel, I used inspiring blue & white images from my favourite decoration magazines and create a happy, summer holidays mood board. Each time we open the cupboard now, we are welcome by this uplifting burst of colours in different shades of blue. 2/ For an industrial feel  Vintage metal cabinets can be found on E-bay if you …

My latest DIY project..

Always have a little DIY project in the kitchen, you never know what crazy hours of the night you will end up tackling it! I tackled mine at 2am (thx to Madame Insomnia) and ended up chatting with some nice people (thanks Instagram) I found the chair above in the street last year. I wasn’t too keen on the dark wood (which i sanded) and the blue fabric (see how it looked like when my home was featured in ELLE DECORATION) but the shape was perfect to achieve the style of Jacqueline Morabito (below). follow my Pinterest for more J. Morabito inspiration But then Lucas started sleeping on it…. Then Lucas started chewing the cushion… In the end, my lovely dog wrecked it completely (see picture on Instagram) so rather than re-upholster it, I decided to paint the fabric in white and use the chair as a prop. I had done this last Summer on a French armchair in my house in France (credit to my creative mum who suggested it) and the result was fab…very Maison …

LITTLE CREATIVE PROJECT | WOODEN CLOTHES RAIL

I can’t tell you how you excited I am about life in general and the small changes have made to our diet had such a positive impact on our energy level, skin and sleep in such a short time that I hope my excitement will rub off on you. Today, I’m making a spinach & coconut soup but my real cooking challenge this weekend is to make a yummy quinoa salad and a green smoothie #superfoods. I will share recipes later on.Now that my energy level is back to normal, my mind is buzzing with creative ideas, and one little creative project that inspired me today, was this wooden clothes rail project by La Cerise Sur Le Gateau (you can read all the instructions here)We’re off to our holidays home in France soon for a few days to catch up with my beloved sister Elodie and Lily and I think it would be a fantastic project to do with the girls. There is a gorgeous forest near our local beach and I know they would love to pick up pieces of …

Are you interested in my bathroom renovation project ?

Despite feeling upbeat at breakfast time when the sun was out, by the time I came back from the cinema with Mila this morning, it was clear that I had caught a bug.So instead of spending the afternoon doing a bit of DIY to freshen up our pallet coffee table, I’m now in bed trying to drink lots of water, eating fruits to bring my immune system back to normal…. and I’m working on our bathroom renovation project.I was planning to share my renovation project and tips with you on the blog because tackling the renovation of a bathroom is not the easiest project but at the same time, between putting the BODIE and FOU catalogue, running the business, freelance styling & other cool writing projects, it’s becoming a challenge to find the time and motivation to spend two hours writing an article when no-one seems to find the time to leave any comment. So rather than waste any more time, I thought I would ask you directly whether you would like me to share the renovation of our bathroom …

Mila’s little bedroom revamp…

A few weeks, Mila asked for more pink in her bedroom so I decided to add soft touches to her room by painting her old white desk and chair.

Two DIY projects that fire me up!

OK I have DIY on the brain…Mila & I spent the afternoon painting her old desk (you could see the result on Instagram.com) and then we made white pom poms to hang in her bedroom.I have to admit the desk looks good. I’m not a massive fan of pink but she chose a gorgeous soft pink from Dulux and against her grey wall, it looks beautiful. I will post pictures later on this week.In the meantime, these two DIY projects fired me up.The first one is an idea from Emily Henderson to style shelving units for one of her clients. You should follow the link as she describes the whole creative process and I think it’s a brilliant idea! I would love to do something like this on our house in France. The second one are these house numbers inspired by the work of Architect Richard Neutra, found on Curbly and when you know the price of contemporary house number, I think you will find the result pretty impressive! As I have been offered tickets to go to The …
