Kate Moss by Corinne Day

Kate Moss by Corinne Day

This iconic picture (below) of a young Kate Moss by British Fashion Photographer Corinne Day (1965-2010) is one of my favourites. It exudes an innocence, happiness and freedom that, as mother, you are hoping to see on your children faces as long as possible. In 1993, Day was commissioned by Alexandra Shulman to photographe Kate Moss for the June issue of the British edition of Vogue. She photographed the young model (19 at the time) in her flat with her then boyfriend, fashion photographer Mario Sorrenti. For the story, Moss had an argument with her boyfriend just before the shoot and shows a vulnerability that contributed to making these images one of the most iconic of the 1990s. She also wears H&M lingerie (named Hennes at the time), which is rarely remembered or credited. The feature was aimed to be a lingerie fashion spread and, the editorial, “Under Exposed” caused a media scandal, with newspapers from the Daily Mail to The Independent claiming that the images were hideous, exploitative, verging on child pornography. Personally, these images don’t shock me. I …

15 Hush must-haves in the sale

Following last week post: 15 Isabel Marant must-haves in the sale, some of you asked me to come up with a selection of more affordable fashion must-haves. Hush is one of my favourite online brands (see mood board I did last year) and if you live outside the UK, you may not be familiar with the brand but trust me, it will soon become your go-to-brand for comfy cashmere jumpers, gorgeous PJs and all-around stylish loungewear. 15 Isabel Marant Must-haves in the Sale

As you know, I’m a huge fan of Isabel Marant‘s style (I love her workplace too!). I have pieces I bought at full price and others I found on websites that sell pre-owned luxury fashion like Vestiaire Collective, Vide-Dressing and sometimes Ebay. The key things to bear in mind when buying an Isabel Marant must-have or for any pieces from your favourite Designer, are: Buy it because it fits your style and personality (I don’t like everything she does or neither does everything suits my body shape, so choose wisely. Work out the cost-per-wear (Total cost of the item/ estimated number of days you’ll wear it = the cost per wear). I live in my wedged sneakers in Winter time and in my Dickers boots in Summer time so the cpw is pretty low compared to the pair of high-heels I would wear less. Try the outfit in shop first to work out your size so once the Sale is on, you know exactly what outfit and size to get. Be patient and enjoy the process. Personally I draw more satisfaction from adding a key piece …

Have you sorted your outfit for Christmas yet? Since it will be our first Christmas without dad, I’m not even sure I will be in the mood to celebrate anything or dressing up but deep down, the part of me who is writing this from her sofa, dressed in comfy harem trousers, is hoping that I’ll be

The Kaftan dress

I can’t say I’m much of a fashion dresser at the beach. I like to keep things simple….Yoga, breakfast, beach/sailing/surfing, diner, sleep, repeat so I usually hang out in three different outfits: Outfit 1: white t-shirt + denim shorts + white converse although I do fancy a pair of Stan Smith for a change Outfit 2 (if temperatures get cooler): white t-shirt + denim shirt + boyfriend jeans Outfit 3: a Summer dress + Swedish Hasbeens So this Season, I treated my wardrobe to two Summer dresses: this white Cassy dress from Isabel Marant (I will actually put the same dress in blue for sale on Instagram tomorrow morning) and this black Kaftan dress.

5 things I want right now!

I went to various AW2015 press day yesterday including Urban Outfitters and Karen Millen and saw lots of really nice things including this beautiful leather skirt from Urban Outfitters. The Karen Millen collection drew its inspiration from the 70s and iconic women like Anjelica Huston, Jane Birkin and Farraw Fawcett….expect gorgeous, feminine cuts and Autumn colours to come but right now, let’s focus on Summer!!!! 1/The Fringe trend is still on next season so this grey fringe bag would be a great investment to wear throughout this Summer and next season plus I love the grey colour which is a nice change from the usual black or brown version we see everywhere. 2/ I’m not big on jewellery. I love simple, discreet things but I treated myself to this heart necklace for Mother’s Day and it has become one of my favourites (I’m wearing it here). Sadly, the silver one is now sold out but there is a few left in gold. 3/I think you know by now that I love jumpsuits. It’s versatile, practical, stylish and I’m a big fan of this Native Rose …
