How to quickly update your dining room

December 3, 2016

How to quickly update your dining roomI have been looking for new dining chairs for our home to replace the mix and no-match we had around our dining table since the house renovations so quite a while…
A couple of vintage Eames I salvaged from the dump when my old company Universal Pictures International was revamping the international offices, a vintage Harry Bertoia chair bought on Ebay, a new stainless-steel Bertoia I got from the Knoll sample sale, a couple of cardboard stools from Story Deli and of course, our Ikea’s bright green garden chairs which added a cheerful pop of colour but wasn’t exactly what I had in mind for the room, which has very soothing hues of pale grey and white. DETAILS: WHITE WOODEN BENCHAs a white interiors lover, I had this image saved in my Pinterest for ever and recently realised that the bench was from Morocco where I have been for the past 10 days and was perfect for my DETAILS series.
Last Summer, I bought a similar stool from the market in France and have been pondering since then if I should leave it raw or paint it white like above. The jury is still out but I do love the contrast of white wood against the concrete floor while I think raw wood would look great and more beachy on the deck of our holiday home in France (July is almost booked up).

If you are wondering if you should come to Marrakech, my answer to you is yes.
Marrakech has been an incredible inspiring place from an interior design point of view and I’m in awe each time I see an Artisan making beautiful wooden furniture or creating something out of copper, iron, leather or rubber. In fact, it has been such a positive experience that I’ve already booked our return for May 2017. I’ve already tagged on Instagram all the places I visited but I will do a Marrakech guide on my return to reality next week ;-)

1/ My favourite shop HUSH is having a mini sale with items up to 50% OFF and I’ve listed below my favourite pieces but don’t miss out on this gorgeous leather top down from £150 to £90this classic V jumper and this fab fur parka.

DETAILS: vintage sliding doorI remember once asking about sliding door on Instagram during the bodieandfourenovations and got a lot of answers and feedback to my query so I’m sure you will love this sliding door.

My thought when I came across was…WOW…there is sliding door and there is that kind of sliding door!
They basically put together a bunch of wooden shutters & doors to create one striking and beautiful, vintage panel.
In essence, it’s not difficult to do but the tricky part, I think, will be to manage the overall weight of the door and to secure a track strong enough to bear the weight.

What do you think?

Also, this is the third of my DETAILS series and I would love to know what you think of this little series which is meant to highlight one specific detail and over time, enable you to build a nice collection of interesting and stylish details to apply to future interior design projects.

DETAILS | painted rug

DETAILS | Painted rug on concrete floorI first spotted a painted rug on a concrete floor in the holidays home of Paola Navone in Greece and I think it’s a feature that doesn’t get old and feels quite summery too. I love this painted rug very much.

What do you think? Is it something you would like to do?
