Have you used these light garlands indoors? I’ve always used mine outside when we had friends around for a BBQ or for Mila’s birthday party. At home, I tend to use fairy lights which are a lot smaller but I’m really loving how festive these garlands make a home feel festive throughout the year.
Finally it feels like Summer!I have been feeling a bit under the weather lately, too busy at work, baby no 2 not coming (I know I know… we can’t rush these things but when Mila tells Steve that he smells like M&Ms and other funny things she regularly comes up with, I really can’t wait to expand our franco-kiwi tribu).Anyway, today is gorgeous and I feel like hanging garlands, buntings and pom poms throughout the house and outside in the garden…Colourful tissue paper pom poms are such an easy and affordable way to inject a dose of feel-good, happy vibes in a room and are amazing to create a memorable birthday party or wedding. For the photoshoot with MILK magazine last Saturday, I hung a mix of softpink, fuschia and aubergine pom poms by Mila’s window. We had to take them down in the evening to bring her roller blind down but my plan is to hang them from the ceiling like pic no 2. I think it will look fab, don’t you think? 1. Mokkassin 2. Home and Harmony …
Busy weekend ahead….between the usual Saturday morning errands for Mila, we are off to Steve’s God-daughter’s communion and are likely to come home late and merry tonight… And of course, tomorrow Mila’s Birthday party is on… and I’m half-ready for it. I was planning to attempt making gorgeous, homemade marshmallows for my pink theme but this is SOOOO not going to happen this weekend, instead I got some fat-free ones from the supermarket. Anyway, if you have a more relaxed weekend, you may want to try this….although given the hot weather, I think sipping mojitos outside in the garden would be a lot more appropriate! Have a great weekend! Image 1 from here | image 2 & recipe from here http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/UxVs
Mila is eating her poached egg on toast kindly prepared by her papa…Lucas (a LOT bigger now than on the photo) goes out in the garden, leaving the door open.Mila: “Luuuccaas…Can you close the door! I’m cold“Papa: “Are you legs broken?”Mila: “No they are frozen“I couldn’t help laughing…Kids are such matter-of-fact. I’m on the look-out for great ideas to celebrate the Minx’ birthday. Last year, we had a ball preparing it together so it’s back on! She and I were super excited about doing a Ugly Betty themed B’day party but it looks like I’m the only mum who watch the series with her five-years old daughter :-(In the meantime, I’m loving what Chelsea did for Project Wedding (C) Frolic Mila mange l’oeuf poche que son papa lui a gentiment prepare pour le petit dej’…Lucas (BEAUCOUP plus gros que sur la photo) sort dans le jardin, laissant la porte ouverte.Mila: “Luuuccaas…Est ce que tu peux fermer la porte! J’ai froid“Papa: “Est ce que tes jambes sont cassees?”Mila: “Non elles sont frigorifiees“Je n’ai pas pu m’empecher …
Mila’s B’day party is next Sunday and I’m almost sorted but if you haven’t had time yet to organise your child’s party, My Little Day is fantastic if you’re running out of time or ideas. My Little Day is the brainchild of two friends and mummies who got fed up running out of time to organise cool birthday parties for their kids. I love their concept and I love their super boites (funky boxes with everything you need) especially ‘La Boite a Pois’ which has plates, cups, balloons, candles. They also have some gorgeous invitations, stamps and masking tapes and a lovely blog here to give you more party ideas http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/UxVs
When Dom Roberts, Director of Mash, an Aussie Design company, was about to get married to Helena, he took a week away from other projects to concentrate on creating a unique and memorable wedding invitation. I’m not sure that’s the kind of vision everyone wants to have on their wedding day but I thought it was pure genius and really good fun for like a 40 birthday party…. http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/UxVs
Mila is turning 5 years old next month and if I go by the ‘kids party rule‘ which is to match the number of guests to the age of the B’day girl + 1 (so 6 guests), she is now almost 15 years old and I’m starting to think that I’m going to have stock of G&T to cope with this event…. Anyway, looking for some inspirations, I came across these cool pics on Fine Little Day. Fine Little Day is a lovely blog written by Elisabeth, a Swedish Designer who shares a studio with Studio Violet and Camilla Engman. These are the images of her daughter’s twelfth B’day party…the theme was Old Men….I’m loving it http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/UxVs
