Life with Mila…never boring, always happy

I think/hope her bedroom (our loft conversion) will be finished this week.We had to do some photos over the weekend for Real Living Australia magazine and here are a few I took of Mila with my iphone when we were done. It’s a bit grainy but I love them. She has so much happy energy… Sharing is caring ❤️ Leave a comment and let’s have a chat… http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/UxVs

{Paris} Kids portrait exhibition by Michelle Marshall | Playtime Paris

Each year, Playtime Paris asked 4 artists to interpret a theme to be displayed during the show. This year, the theme was inspired by the arctic regions, explorers’ expeditions and the inuit tribes. Michelle Marshall, who you may be remember from her last venture www.quirkycollective.com, exhibited a stunning series of kids portraits swaddled in fur. Mila wears a head piece from Nixie Clothing which I’ve mentioned here.I have long admired the work of Michelle who has done campaigns for Sun Salt/Saltwalter, La Princesse au Petit Pois, and Chalk magazine. Trained as a Photographer at the University of Derby, French-born, north London based Michelle Marshall has always produced amazing photos of children and has a knack for capturing the magical realms of childhood and creating visual stories. You can view the full exhibition here. // Clothes and accessories were provided by Blackeyewear, Bobo Choses, Lucky Boy Sunday, Nixie Clothing, Óvitar by Gu∂run & Gu∂run, Pale Could, Play is Work, Shampoodle and Waddler Clothing. Kate Barry

I was half-kidding a couple of days that you don’t need to watch the news to find out what happens in the world, each time someone dies, my Facebook wall is filled by R.I.P. posts and this morning sadly, it was about Kate Barry.I loved her, in fact I love her whole family and I think it was one of these ‘famous’ family of artists who was very much loved because they were naturally ‘cool’, very talented and beautiful. I grew up listening to Serge Gainsbourg and naturally came to love the rest of his family. Jane was/still is a style icon, a sexy tomboy who numerous girls seek to emulate. I didn’t have the skinny, tall figure but I’ve always loved her style, a cool attitude and then there was Charlotte, a couple years younger than me and three years older than Elodie. Charlotte, like Vanessa Paradis were and still are my favourite style icons. I love the women they became and the artistic choices they made.Kate chose to build her life behind the …

Black beauty & positive thinking

I started the day on Instagram posting this positive thinking quote and it worked wonder. My day has been filled with good news and truly amazing shots for our Christmas catalogue.I can’t get over how beautiful this photo François took today is and don’t get me started on this black cluster light.I have the 8-string white cluster light in my bedroom and in our home in France but the black one is quite amazing…especially against a dark wall.If you’re not a fan of his page yet, by all means follow him on Facebook here, you will make his day. Have a great evening xoxoLEAVE A COMMENT THANKS! http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/UxVs

Hydrangeas, baskets and the work of Emily Quiton, Photographer

When I was on holidays in France last week, I saw a really beautiful photo of our natural basket filled with Hydrangeas, in my Instagram feed.  I love Hydrangeas. My mum has some bright pink ones in her garden in France which look vibrant and beautiful and I think it is a very poetic and feminine flower, don’t you think? Those gorgeous images were taken by Emily Quinton, an Award-Winning Photographer and you can see more of these beauties on her blog: Start-up Wife. Emily also runs Floral Friday –  a weekly celebration of floral creativity on Instagram. Check it out, there are some really beautiful photos and some very talented people out there. Today is DAY-2 in Paris and Francois and I are shooting a beautiful, vegetarian cafe for The Simple Things magazine but if you can, try to get issue 14 (out now) which features Artisan and issue 15 (out soon), which will have the cafe we shot in Brooklyn. Have a great Sunday (the natural baskets are back in stock very soon!) LEAVE A COMMENT THANKS! http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/UxVs

Umm….

Umm…which kind of summarises my state of mind this morning…and if you could see me in front of my laptop, you would see me shrugging and puffing like a proper French girl. I mentioned this before my holidays but the format of this blog doesn’t correspond me anymore and it’s a bit frustrating (read a lot) because there is a lot of things I want to share here on the blog but being a perfectionist, I find it frustrating to share them into a context that no longer feel like me.So I end up doing nothing which frustrates me even more (happy day!)….I want to go back to photography, I want to show you beautiful things that inspire me, I want to have the time to do things well rather than rushing/multi-tasking, I want to tap into my creativity instead of worrying about people like her ….I want, I want, I want ;-)So I’m going to try using the time in Paris this week to lay out at least the format I want from this blog …

Such a serene photo…

I love the peace and serenity this shot exudes and this woman with her white hair looks so graceful… It looks like a painting/// The day I manage to style something as beautiful as this, I will be very happy. I have also been dying to get a skull like this since I saw one in the kitchen of this gorgeous home in Amsterdam – which is pretty much my ‘masterplan’ kitchen. I keep asking if Steve’s dad in New-Zealand can find one on his farm but as he has now retired, it is very unlikely that one of the few cows he kept. is going to drop-dead just so that I can have her skull so if you know where I could source some, by all means please let me know.
