5 inspiring white workspaces

Our renovations are still going smoothly… What used to be a terrace on the 2nd floor that nobody used, has now been converted into a light, airy contemporary home office and like the loft conversion, I think it’s going to be an amazing room filled with natural light. The room is being plastered today except this small brick wall which I managed to save and we are putting floorboards to be painted in white. Considering the scale of the project, I’m still amazed by how everything is running smoothly… Major credits to the kiwi who, not only does an amazing job, project managing the whole thing (check hashtag bodieandfourenovations on Instagram) but also to the amazing builders we have on site. I will happily share their details at the end of the project. I feel very lucky and grateful. It’s our third renovation work and we worked with “cowboys” in the past which made the whole thing a lot more stressful! So yes the house is a major building site, out of 3 floors, only one room is habitable but …

10 things you need to create an inspiring workspace

Creating inspiring workspaces is one of my favourite things… I simply can’t function properly in a working space that doesn’t inspire me, it’s just simple as that! We are very lucky now that our offices are actually based in a beautiful, industrial space where I could easily move in and turn it into a loft (if that was ever an option) but it wasn’t always the case. The first years of running the business, we had some pretty shitty workspaces with no heat etc. and the only way I found myself coping with my surrounding environments was to create a little, inspiring corner to focus on. So here are a few of my tips which you could put into practice this weekend or next week. 1/ Find yourself a wall And use it as your blank canvas to create a moodboard, a backdrop that will inspire you. Facing a wall may be seen as not very social (but who cares!?), it’s about creating your own little corner of inspiration so when you turn around to …

Such an inspiring workspace & some really great news

// Credits Photo workspace; Styling: Cleo Scheulderman @vtwonen photo: Jeroen van der Spek   Well…I don’t know about your week but mine has been pretty eventful with some really great news!  The first one is that Francois and I are going to be Contributors to The Simple Things magazine and I’m really really excited about it. This is a magazine I loved from the start, it’s beautiful, inspiring, has a great balance of creative things, interiors, soft industrial and food (everything I’m passionate about) and I love the concept we’ve put together so I’m sure you’re going to love it too!   The second one is that I have signed a contract with a fabulous US Literary Agent to write an interior book and I’m really really freaked out about it (but very excited too!). Writing a decoration book has always been on my list of things to do when I launched BODIE and FOU 8 years ago but it takes time to build a business and this year was finally the year to make that dream comes …

The BODIE and FOU SS/2013 catalogue has landed!

I’m proud to say that our latest catalogue has landed on our UK customers’ doorsteps today!  If you haven’t received a copy you can request one here before we run out. This means that I can finally show you the inspiring workspace I styled in our new offices and which is one of my favourite ones.  Doesn’t this KNOT chair look amazing!? The white table is also new and can double-up as a desk or dining table and I love these Bamboo lamps and this natural basket which is fast-becoming our best-seller! Well I love everything about our new collection… I’m beaming with proud and I wish I could jump with joy but after a week fighting the flu and then a viral stomach bug, I can hardly stand up which is hugely frustrating but I really hope you will enjoy it.  Please let me know….It’s always very rewarding to get your feedback xoxo http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/UxVs

Latest styling job | B&W workspace

First of all, a BIG thank you for all your messages and chats on Twitter and Instagram when I was ill these last few days. Being sick is incredibly boring and it was a lot more entertaining to chat to some of you rather than be alone in bed (there is so much TV one can watch in one day!). I’m still not 100% and woke up last night at 3am, then 5am and 6am so I doubt I’ll be very alert today but I’ll try. The second image is the one I initially styled for the workspace spread of our new SS/2013 catalogue (out next Friday) to show you how you can create a nice, inspiring monochrome home office easily (see get the look below). In the end we didn’t use it. I wanted our new catalogue to be even more beautiful and inspiring than the previous ones and this shot didn’t have enough of a WOW factor for me.I felt it was again a monochrome theme like the one I had styled for the previous catalogue (photo 3) …

BODIE and FOU offices + Interview in CURIO magazine

“It’s better to be a pirate than join the navy” Steve Jobs The new issue of CURIO magazine is now out and I’m very excited to have the new BODIE and FOU Showroom/offices featured in it.  CURIO magazine is a wonderful magazine launched by the lovely Tara Germain and full of interesting articles and I’m hoping you will enjoy reading mine where I talked about the beginnings of BODIE and FOU and found some inspiration to follow your dreams and create the company of your dreams.Francois was commissioned to shoot two features for this issue, of course the BODIE and FOU one but also the studio of Fiona Leahy who looks amazing! —————————————————————————————————————————————————–// Photography: Francois Kong for Curio magazine http://feeds.feedburner.com/blogspot/UxVs

4 of my styling ideas for our new offices….

Gee…we haven’t moved in our new offices yet that we already have a photoshoot scheduled! Crazy!Francois has been commissioned by Curio magazine to shoot our team and our new studio/showroom  in February and while it’s totally manic at the moment, I feel there is nothing like a good deadline to get you (well me) cracking with the interior design of our new offices.I have been compiling inspiring images of workspaces on Pinterest for a while now and here are the first 4 plans of actions I want to tackle to create an office environment that feels welcoming, nurturing and friendly:1) Replace our old Ikea desks (sorry Swedish giant it’s time to move on!) by 2 or 3 FORM tables for the team and line them up in a row to maximise the space and create a friendly environment,2) Replace our dry-wipe board by a couple of blackboards to keep track of our deadlines and projects and pin inspiring mood boards,3) Mix chic industrial furniture with contemporary designs and gorgeous prints like this Feathers print or the Batgirl print to achieve …

In love with our future offices

At the end of the month, we are moving BODIE and FOU to a new home in Acton and I’m SO excited.  Our new offices will be in a typical old London warehouse with original floorboards and large big windows like these below. Gorgeous isn’t it!?  Since Steve lived in a loft warehouse near Borough market a few years back, I’ve always dreamt of living in a similar building with exposed brick walls and large, industrial windows so I can’t wait to move in and put our stamp on it.  I’m a firm believer that working from an inspiring environment is good for your well-being and I think we are going to be very happy there for the next two years + we have some lovely neighbours! New address from 28th Jan. 2013:  BODIE and FOU Showroom | Styling & Photography Studio 231 The Vale Acton, Second floor, London W3 7QS Tel: +208 450 5600 | [email protected] | www.bodieandfou.com For more inspiring workspaces, check my Workspaces board on Pinterest or here Via   A la fin du mois, BODIE and …
